Volunteers are needed for
“Viewing War Through Different Lenses” grant project.

Students at Winnebago Schools seek volunteers to share oral histories pertaining to war and the struggles survivors and veterans experienced.

Winnebago’s interest in preserving these oral histories was chosen partly because of our communities pride in history -- a history rich with many past and current veterans who fought in different wars throughout the existence of our small farming community.

Community members, family members and friends who are interested in sharing their stories of service are encouraged to contact Anne Kaufman at Winnebago Middle School (335-2364) for a Biographical Data sheet and to complete it and return it to her at the Middle School as soon as possible. The biographical data sheets help fifth and eighth grade students focus on research necessary for the interviews.

Interviews can be scheduled for January and February, however, more completed Biographical Data sheets must be submitted in order for students to participate in this outstanding learning opportunity.
The project is funded by the State of Illinois LSTA Grant.
